Castle later joined Lawrence Welk 's variety show, but left in 1969 to raise her children. By the age of 13, she had appeared on both Tex Williams ' and Spade Cooley 's radio/television shows, playing piano and singing country songs. This is still the band I’m playing with today. She came to prominence during the '60s as a piano player on The Lawrence Welk Show, but Jo Ann Castle was singing at the age of three. Then, one day at lunch and just doing small talk, we learned that we could start a band with the people sitting around the table. ![]() When I started working professionally, I didn’t play music for some 10 years. But as everybody around us thought that electronic music was just weird, I didn’t persue this as a job and became an IT developer instead. Together with a friend we played a lot of his music, and that of Tangerine Dream, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Depeche Mode and Vangelis.
